The single most important factor in successful psychotherapy is the relationship between patient and therapist; effective therapy starts from the moment you walk in the door. If you feel unsure, please call and talk with me about setting up your first appointment. You need a therapist who will listen, work with you to attain your goals and be supportive and patient. I work with a diverse clientele of individuals and couples on grief/bereavement, depression, life change, conflict resolution, childhood and adult trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual abuse, anxiety, substance abuse and sexuality issues (LGBTQ). Emotional growth, recovery, self-awareness and a healthier, more balanced life are just some of the possible outcomes available if you set your mental health as a priority. I believe it is never too late to learn to be comfortable with yourself, learn to embrace your value and work to improve aspects of your life.
To err is human, and life challenges simply fundamental rites of passage extended to us all. What differs from person to person is the frequency, intensity, and significance of these experiences. Research shows that struggling to find energy, mobilize efforts, and persist at tasks are both normal and understandable aspects to the change process; along with varying levels of personal resources needed for one to cope as a result. With expertise in motivational interviewing, stage-wise and person-centered practices, I utilize a collaborative approach that empowers you to take the reigns as the expert of your own life. I have a considerable background working with various treatment populations across a continuum of severity and needs including issues related to adjustment, aggression, sexuality, substance use, relationships, identity, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I specialize in motivational practices and offer coaching services for nonclinical behavior change needs. I look forward to assisting you during the next phase of your journey. Be well.
Therapy can be an invaluable asset to assist us in actualizing our goals and aspirations in many areas of our lives. I specialize in self-care, development of effective communication skills and support, self-confidence and self-esteem building, and working through difficult decisions and situations. As your therapist, I will be your ally as you guide the journey through self-exploration and evolution to the person you strive to be. I take pride in creating an atmosphere in which you can feel safe in discussing even the most difficult topics and know that you are accepted unconditionally. Celebrate every success, even the smallest!

A Light Among the Bleak Landscape
After seeing a few different therapists over the years, I have finally found a place that gets me. A place where I seek refuge during the worst times of my life. I can feel comfortable and trust that Dr. Stephanie is knowledgeable, patient, and caring enough to help. I would not recommend anyone more highly in any field, let alone psychology. Walking into her office was the best step towards a positive future I could have ever made! Thank you Dr.!
A transforming experience
Dr. Stephanie was amazing to work with. This was not my first time in therapy, and the transformation that I experienced was amazing. I have more respect for myself, am teaching others how I want to be treated, and I am following my passion. No more doormat behavior here!
